In 2000, Iraq—
the country with the world's
second largest oil reserves—
switched from dollars to
euros in trading its oil.

I created Oil d'Oeuvres, right, in response to the US bombing of Afghanistan.

I continue to make work in response to the US war in the Middle East.

The Abu Ghraib torture motif
circles the base of the piece.

Land Between the Rivers was inspired by numbers...

Number of bases—
14 key facilities and mega bases—
bases beyond the level of temporary encampment.

Number of deaths—
100,000 or more deaths since the 2003 invasion
of Iraq, according to The Lancet's report.

Number of refugees—
The United Nations estimates that 4.7 million Iraqis, nearly 20 percent of Iraq's pre-war population, have been displaced.
