The plates are
food safe and
may also be hung
on the wall.
The label on the back of each plate, The Great Recession,
Made in U.S.A. brings attention
to wage earner's current economic plight in the USA and abroad.
The dandelion motif represents many things. It is both
a wildflower and
a weed. Served today in upscale restaurants, it
was a staple food
during the Great Depression.
An ingredient
for wine, it is
also used for
its medicinal properties.
In keeping with traditions of old chinaware labeling, each plate has
a hand-painted
label applied on
the back with
silver overglaze.
